| This is the
chance to do some real reserve management work under the guidance
of a Warden. Three sites are currently being worked on: Northward
Hill, Shorne Marshes and a farm building at Eastborough Farm, Cooling
near High Halstow.
At Northward
Hill you could be involved with tree planting and woodland regeneration,
which helps to create a habitat for Whitethroat, Willow Warbler,
Blackcap and Nightingale and is also good for butterflies such as
Grizzled Skipper and Speckled Wood. The work makes a valuable contribution
to keeping a good trails system open.

At Shorne Marshes
the work could involve scrub clearance on the marshes to help breeding
waders. Whatever you do it has a direct benefit to the wildlife
and this is very much in evidence in the summer with breeding birds
and the array of other wildlife that can be found.

About fifteen
people usually gather with ages ranging from 12 to 80 and you do
as little or as much as you want. Wear suitable clothes - it can
be muddy and wet - a pair of old gloves is very useful. Most people
bring a sandwich and a drink - yes, you are allowed a break!
